The highly anticipated Bantamweight World Title showdown between Guyana’s boxing icon Elton Dharry and Kassim Salim of Tanzania has been officially rescheduled following a training injury sustained by Dharry. Originally slated for March 28, 2026, the bout will now take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Pegasus Suites and Corporate Centre in Georgetown, Guyana.
The Guyana Boxing Board of Control confirmed the postponement after receiving medical documentation from Dharry’s team declaring the fighter unfit to compete on the original date. Dharry’s management has requested a 21-day extension to allow the veteran contender sufficient time to recover and return to full fitness ahead of the biggest fight of his career.
“All other arrangements for the event remain unchanged,” the Board stated in its official release. Tickets for the rescheduled bout are expected to go on sale in the coming days. Promoters also announced that a press conference will be held in the coming days to provide further details, including undercard matchups and promotional activities surrounding the event.Dharry, who has been chasing a world title opportunity for over a decade, will now look to make a triumphant return in late April. The delay, while unfortunate, offers both fighters additional time to sharpen their preparations for what is expected to be a historic night for Guyanese boxing.
