One of the evening’s standout moments at Mikhail Model Management’s “The Garden of the Benching Path” fashion showcase was the unveiling of Mikhail latest collection, “Sounds of Africa.” The collection celebrated African heritage through bold prints, flowing silhouettes and contemporary tailoring, transforming traditional influences into modern, wearable fashion.
The runway featured an eclectic mix of dramatic gowns, relaxed resort wear, statement swimwear, structured dresses and inclusive ready-to-wear pieces for women and children. Rich Ankara-inspired textiles dominated the collection, with vibrant blues, oranges, reds and earthy tones reflecting the rhythm and energy suggested by the collection’s title.
Several designs paired fluid draping with bold cut-outs and sculptural silhouettes, while others embraced simplicity through elegant maxi dresses and contemporary separates. Accessories including headwraps, natural hairstyles and statement jewellery complemented the garments, allowing the intricate prints and craftsmanship to remain the focal point.
